The 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo were postponed by one year due to the COVID-19 epidemic, making them unlike any in the 128-year history of the venerable event.

 

It did, however, spawn a fair share of stars in the US, just like all of its predecessors

The women’s individual all-around competition was won by gymnast Suni Lee. Three of the five gold medals that swimmer Caeleb Dressel brought home were from individual competitions. With her tenth and eleventh Olympic medals in her career, sprinter Allyson Felix surpassed the illustrious Carl Lewis to become the American track and field athlete with the most medals.
