Wednesday Injury Report: Bengals to Play Their Studs, Browns DNP?

The Cleveland Browns’ injury report from Wednesday included 17 players. While the team’s intention to rest a lot of players on Sunday is a major storyline, it’s unclear if the Cincinnati Bengals will start their best players.

The Cleveland Browns surprised a few people as they arrived at the practice field before of their game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Elijah Moore, a wide receiver (concussion), and Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, an edge player (pectoral), both made a restricted comeback to the practice field. With 17 players on the Browns’ injury list, it should be advantageous to be able to bench guys this week in order to get ready for the postseason.

Moore is still undergoing the concussion protocol, but this is a significant step in the right direction. Although it seems unlikely that the Browns would try to use him on Sunday, it would be good news if he returned for the postseason. In the unlikely event that the Browns needed to win this game to either improve their seeding or make the playoffs, Okoronkwo has been training hard to attempt to return. However, the club will need to assess what he can accomplish given the torn pec he sustained. In order to avoid wasting any possible repetitions he might be able to offer in an exhibition game, he is another player who is more likely to be rested from Sunday’s game.

There was a complete workout for defensive end Myles Garrett, cornerback Denzel Ward, and quarterback Joe Flacco. The goal is to keep them fit and focused for the postseason even if none of them are anticipated to play on Sunday. It also conveys to the other members of the team how crucial it is to maintain your attention on the current work.

Injury concerns kept linebacker Anthony Walker Jr., kicker Dustin Hopkins (hamstring), running back Kareem Hunt (groin), guard Joel Bitonio (oblique, knee), corner Greg Newsome (knee), and center Ethan Pocic (shoulder, stinger) from practicing. Tight end David Njoku (knee) and wide receiver Amari Cooper (heel) were benched for rest, however it appears that Njoku was sick as well.

Corey Bojorquez returned to practice following the release of punter Matt Haack from the practice squad, although he was restricted due to a quad issue.
