So sad: Arizona Linebacker made a fearful statement that hurt fan

Dino Babers joins Arizona as offensive coordinator, bringing Brent Brennan and the former Syracuse coach back together.

Babers has a long experience with the Wildcats program and as an offensive assistant.

Dino Babers, a former Syracuse coach, is joining Arizona as its offensive coordinator, as various outlets and 247Sports have confirmed. In 2000, Babers was Arizona’s offensive coordinator and shared a staff with Brent Brennan, the newly hired Wildcats coach, as a graduate assistant.

Babers, who has a wealth of experience on the attacking end of the court, has worked as a coach at different levels over the previous ten years. After joining Eastern Illinois in 2012, he racked up a 19-7 record and made two trips to the FCS playoffs. Between 2014 and 2015, he was Bowling Green’s coach. During that time, he guided the Falcons to their second 10-win campaign in three years and the Mid-American Conference championship.

He used that accomplishment to his advantage and worked for Syracuse for the next eight seasons. Under Babers, the Orange peaked in 2018 when they went 9-3 during the regular season and finished second in the ACC Atlantic. They won the Camping World Bowl against West Virginia to top off the season. For the first time since 2001, Syracuse finished the season ranked, finishing 15th in the final AP Top 25.

Over the following four years, Syracuse never finished higher than third in their division and would not make another bowl until 2022. The Orange had a 6-0 start to the 2022 season, which included a victory against No. 15 NC State that put them back in the AP top 25 for the first time in four years. However, they finished the season with a 1-5 record and a loss to Minnesota in the Pinstripe Bowl.

After Syracuse’s 5-6 start to the 2023 season, Babers was dismissed 11 games into the season. Babers spent over thirty years coaching in various offensive capacities around the nation before making his way into the head coaching ranks. In 1998, he was appointed offensive coordinator for the first time at Arizona.

He accepted the same position at Texas A&M following three years with the Wildcats. Babers coached running backs at Pittsburgh from 2003 to 2011, wide receivers, running backs, and associate head coach at UCLA, and wide receivers, recruiting coordinators, and special teams coordinators at Baylor.
