
REPORT: Browns Ask for Chargers Kellen Moore Interview
With their official request to interview Kellen Moore for the vacant offensive coordinator position, the Browns’ hunt for their new offensive coordinator has moved to the West.
The Cleveland Browns have been looking around for a new offensive coordinator for the last week, and today we found out that Kellen Moore has joined the team.
After Jim Harbaugh was named the Chargers’ new head coach, the former offensive coordinator was given freedom to speak with teams throughout the NFL. The Chargers will not obstruct Moore and other former staff members from pursuing other jobs, and Harbaugh will have the opportunity to assemble his own team.
Moore, 35, served as the offensive coordinator for the Chargers for the 2023 campaign. In January 2023, he became a member of Brandon Staley’s staff following five seasons with the Dallas Cowboys.
For a large portion of the season, the Chargers’ offense was among the top ten by DVOA, but a dismal final month of the season was caused by injuries to center Will Clapp, Justin Herbert, and Keenan Allen. Running the ball and protection schemes were the Chargers’ main problems, and the Browns’ current brass can undoubtedly help these two areas improve.
With Moore as the offensive coordinator, the Cowboys offense finished first in yards and sixth in points in 2019. In the 2021 season, they ranked first in both categories as well.
