Before being hurt, Sirianni had no regrets about playing A.J. Brown in Week 18.
PHILADELPHIA: It seems sense that the Philadelphia Eagles, who are playing in the NFC Wild Card game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night, will attempt to save their season and maybe head coach Nick Sirianni’s job without their greatest offensive player, receiver A.J. Brown. Most likely, this wasn’t how things had to be. The Eagles played their starters in a game against the New York Giants last week that was mostly meaningless despite knowing the risks that the field at MetLife Stadium provided in a Week 18 match that didn’t matter. Indeed, Philadelphia would have won the NFC East for a second consecutive season if they had defeated the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys had lost to the Washington Commanders.
The Commanders forfeited their chance to secure the second selection in the NFL draft after the Cowboys defeated them 35-10. Josh Harris, who has a history of tanking, wasn’t going to give it up by actually winning a game. The Giants thrashed the Eagles, who never allowed them to recover after jumping out to a 24-0 first-half lead. The Eagles lost and gained no momentum in their confidence.
Brown damaged his knee in the first quarter. After just two plays, rookie safety Sydney Brown tore her ACL. Despite having a middle finger on his throwing hand that popped out of place in the second quarter, quarterback Jalen Hurts is expected to play on Monday. Somewhere along the process, safety Reed Blankenship suffered a groin injury. And now here we are.
Blankenship is dubious and Brown has been fired. The Eagles will only have one healthy safety in Kevin Byard if he is unable to participate. This implies that Bradley Roby would likely fill Avonte Maddox’s seat, with Maddox coming in second. Nick Sirianni, the head coach, declared on Saturday that he had no regrets about starting the starting lineup against the Giants. The coach responded, “We went through it,” when asked whether he had any regrets about the choice. “As you all have asked me, ‘Why did we do it?'” Not understanding what the game was, you know, trying to put a nice production on there. As far as I’m aware, neither of those things occurred. However, no. You can, of course, look back on anything.
