Earlier today, in Berea, general manager Andrew Berry had his post-season news conference.

Regarding his Cleveland Browns squad, no one was anticipating any particularly shocking or roster-shaking information.

However, this did not deter the assembled media from attempting to tie Berry down to any obligations by 2024.

Joe Flacco’s second chance at a team is summarized by Zac Jackson of the Athletic (via Zac Jackson on Twitter).

 

Berry began by restating his broad perspective on the value of having a backup quarterback.

And shortly after that,

Arriving with a rested arm and new legs, he gave the Browns offense instant respectability and vitality.

Flacco’s pay expectations for a full training camp and a lengthy season are likely among Berry’s limitations.

Berry’s statement that there would be three quarterbacks on the roster comes the closest to a firm plan.

This may suggest that Dorian Thompson-Robinson will revert to his role as a developing player meant for 2023.

In Watson’s absence, DTR received three starts during the season following a strong preseason showing.

Over the years, Cleveland has spent big price for both Jacoby Brissett and Case Keenum.

And it does not look probable Berry is ready to leave the backup job in DTR’s hands again just yet.
