The Michigan Wolverines and Washington Huskies will square off in the College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday, January 8 in Houston, Texas’ NRG Stadium to see who will win this season.
Before the game, both teams emerged victorious from the Rose and Sugar Bowls, respectively.
Michigan, led by quarterback J.J. McCarthy, defeated Alabama 27–20 in an astonishing overtime triumph. Jake Thaw, the senior returner, dropped a punt that put him on the one-yard line with less than a minute remaining in the game, which was tied 20–20. But Alabama was unable to take advantage, and Michigan won in overtime courtesy to a spectacular 17-yard end zone run by running back Blake Corum.
