Ta’Niya Latson, the nation’s leading scorer from Florida State, has announced her transfer to the University of South Carolina to play under coach Dawn Staley. Latson, a 5-foot-8 guard, averaged 25.2 points per game during the 2024–25 season.

During her tenure at Florida State, Latson achieved significant milestones, including being named ACC Rookie of the Year and setting the conference record with 10 Rookie of the Week honors. She also earned the USBWA National Freshman of the Year and WBCA Freshman of the Year awards.

Latson’s transfer to South Carolina reunites her with former high school teammate Raven Johnson. Their previous collaboration at Westlake High School in Atlanta resulted in multiple state championships.

Coach Dawn Staley expressed enthusiasm about the addition of Latson to the Gamecocks’ roster, highlighting the boost her scoring ability brings to the team’s offensive capabilities.
